Re-Create Art Contest & Exhibition Traveling Exhibit
Over 250 Oakland students participated in the 2007 Re-Create Art Contest & Exhibition, sponsored by the City of Oakland and curated by the
Museum of Children’s Art (MOCHA). Selected pieces from the 100 plus entries that composed the Exhibition form a traveling exhibit on display through February 2008.
All the Re-Create entries use discarded or reused materials in a creative application of the 4Rs – reduce, reuse, recycle and rot – and include an artist statement of how their artwork illustrates natural resource conservation.
Oakland City Hall opens the traveling exhibit on January 14, 2008, featuring artworks on the Mezzanine of the Rotunda through January 31. These and other Re-Create entries will be on display at Oakland Public Library Branches, as follows:
- January 10-31 – West Oakland, 1801 Adeline Street
- January 11-31 – Lakeview, 550 El Embarcadero
- February1-29 – Eastmont, 7200 Bancroft Avenue
